Today’s technology has paved the way for better communication and ensured fast and visible linkage between the industries and job seekers. To promote this proactive exchange, Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College , in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) , organized an HR summit on the theme “Bridging the gap between Industry and Academia”.
The event commenced with the registration of various experts and panelists. The prominent speakers included Dr. Prem Kumar (HERO Cycles), Mr.J.S Bhogal (Uniparts), Mr Sudhir Gera (IEC, Kirloskar), Dr.Sandeep Kapoor, (PAU), Mr Rajat Sikka (TCS), Mr Amit Thapar (Ganga Acrowools), Mr Baldev Singh Amar (Chairman CII, Punjab) and Mr Jasbir Singh (GS Auto). A brief presentation about the college was presented by Prof. G.S Sodhi , Training placement officer of the college.Engineering students expressed their views regarding their expectations from the industry. Based upon their apprehensions and queries, the expert panelists deliberated in details to establish link with the theme of the summit. They unanimously laid stress on adoption of ethical behavior and practices during the job in industry. They called upon the young engineers to show patience and learning attitude in the start of their professional career. Once they acquire requisite technical skill, there is no dearth of opportunities in the present scenario. They remarked further that Company’s growth as well as personal growth is the real definition for success. Mr Rahul Ahuja, MD Rajnish Industries and Vice Chairman, CII , while coordinating the panel discussion, expressed his satisfaction and hoped that the session shall bring positive motivation among industry and new opportunities for academia for meaningful collaboration. He congratulated GNDEC for becoming a member of CII and promised full support in terms of developing sound professional culture among academia. Dr. S.B Singh, Ex-Principal of GNDEC expressed his views that industry should adopt young engineers and nurture them sincerely.
Dr. Sehijpal Singh, Principal, GNDEC, shared that Government of India is giving adequate financial support for developing quality education in collaboration with Industry. Being an autonomous college, we have liberty to modernize the curriculum as per need of industry. He expressed sincere gratitude towards the industry representatives who marked their presence in the event.
