Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC) held an induction-cum-orientation programme for the newly admitted BTech first year students, to mark the beginning of the session 2019-20. More than 750 students attended the programme.
Students, their mentors and teachers gathered at the college gurdwara and recited ‘path’ and kirtans, followed by ‘Ardas’ for the well being of the upcoming batch. The college auditorium was packed with students in enthusiastic mood over their admission in BTech.
Principal Dr. Sehijpal Singh, laid emphasis on the importance of teachers as mentors who helped students in developing skills to grow academically and professionally to achieve an all-round excellence. The objective of this programme was to prepare the new entrants for the engineering curriculum and highlight the opportunities available to them.
Ravinder Kaur Dhaliwal, director of Students Welfare, PAU, was the chief guest of the occasion. She called upon the new admissions to pledge to always uphold the name of their institution high by excelling in academics and co-curriculum activities. She motivated students to tap their potential to create wonders and transform society.
Amritesh Singh, a student from Sangrur, said: “My first day of the college proved to be a memorable one. Apart from academics, the co-curricular activities provided by the college are exemplary. The updated infrastructure, including the laboratories, shall definitely provide a boost to our studies. I am lucky to get a chance to study in this college.”
Another student Shweta said: “It was my first day in the college. I have opted for BTech mechanical course and was really elated to have secured a seat in the top most institutions of northern India. On my first day of attendance today, I found my teachers to be very cooperative and caring. During the interaction, they cleared my doubts related to the stream.”
Coordinators disclosed that many renowned personalities from various fields shall interact with students during the coming weeks.
