Five Days Faculty Development Programme on “Moodle Learning Management System” was organized by the Department of Information Technology, Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana in association with the Spoken Tutorial, IIT Bombay during. Online Test after the Successful Completion of this programme was also conducted. E-Participation Certificate were generated and distributed among the successfully qualified participants. Dr. Pankaj Bhambri and Er. Sachin Bagga, Course Coordinators from GNDEC informed that 429 candidates from different colleges and universities of India participated in this FDP, among them 232 male and 197 were the female participants.
Moodle is free and open source software and it helps the teachers and educators to create online courses for an adaptive and customized learning. It is used by many small and large educational institutions to create and deliver courses online to their students. Spoken Tutorial Project is funded by the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and is recommended by NASSCOM as well. Dr. Bhambri enlightened that spoken tutorial project has many unique features w.r.t. other available online courses like self explanatory, uses multi-sensory approaches, small duration, learned-centered, learning by doing, and simultaneous empowerment. He mentioned that this course was organized free of cost among the curious learners.
Dr. Sehijpal Singh, Principal of GNDEC conveyed that e-learning is the optimum solution during this epidemic current situation and appreciated the efforts of the organizers. GNDEC is already using the Moodle Platform successfully under the supervision of Dr. H.S.Rai, C.O.E. for the effective teaching learning process.
