In a recent initiative taken by Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College for adding value to conventional engineering disciplines, in line with the initiatives of the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, a pilot project is being started under BTech in the department of production engineering with three minor disciplines (specialisation). They are BTech in production with minor/specialisation in automation and flexible manufacturing, with minor/ specialisation in 3D printing and design, and with minor/specialisation in robotics.
The maximum strength for each sub-specialisation has been fixed to 15 students, whose job placement is 100 per cent assured as per current requirements of the country. The department has been running a PhD programme since 2003 and has a state-of-the art research facilities in machine tools, industrial automation and robotics, rapid manufacturing, and tribological studies.
The institute had also signed an MoU with Apex Cluster Development Services Private Limited, CICU, on July 23, to increase career options of core engineering graduates. The production engineering undergraduate and postgraduate programme have resulted into fruitful career of students.
