Seven PhD scholars, 100 MTech, 50 MBA, 30 MCA and around 625 B Tech graduates were conferred degrees at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC) .
Dr SS Sandhu, Aditional Secretary, Ministry of Human Resource and Development, was the chief guest. He motivated students and asked them to take challenging engineering opportunities at global level. He said technology was transforming very rapidly and needs serious involvement of technocrats.
Dr Ajay K Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, IKG-PTU, Kapurthala, conferred degrees to the students. He elaborated on initiatives taken by the university for upgrading technical education in Punjab. Dr Sharma disclosed that the IKG-PTU was investing money for developing state-of-the-art labs for engineering students.
The convocation began with a majestic and grand academic procession followed by recitation of “Mool mantar”. Principal Dr Sehijpal Singh read the progress report of the college and shared salient developments, including publications, collaborations and collaborative research, awards, student achievements and placements, among others.
Alumni Er PS Grewal, Ex- CMD, National Fertiliser Limited, was also present on the occasion. He discussed about the legacy of the GNDEC and asked the students to maintain and glorify the name of their alma mater.
Maheshinder Singh Grewal, former Cabinet Minister and member of the Nankana Sahib Education Trust, presented the vote of thanks and congratulated the students.
