The department of Computer Science and Engineering of GNDEC,Ludhiana has kick started a TEQIP-III sponsored one week “Master Class on Data Science and its applications” in Collaboration with SABUDH Foundation, SAS Nagar. A Centre of Excellence for data science and business analytics was also launched in collaboration with Sabudh foundation under the Brand name “DATA HIVE”. This CoE will focus on training the students in the field of AI, ML, and Data Science via hands-on sessions and support innovation for incubating startups in this area and employment for the students.
Dr. Parminder Singh (HOD) welcomed all the participants and also elaborated the collobirative activities with the foundation. Dr. Sukhjit Singh Sehra, Director (Sabudh Foundation) also expressed his gratitude to his almamatar and said that today was a special day for him to start new chapter with GNDEC. Dr. Sarabjot Singh Anand, Ex- Director and initiator of the foundation highlighted the importance of master class and explained that the main motive of the master class is to provide a platform for the faculty members, industry persons, research scholars to learn the nuances of data science. The participants will get an opportunity to interact with top experts from the field of data science.
The principal, Dr. Sehijpal Singh, thanked the members of Sabudh foundation and alumni of GNDEC for their efforts in setting up CoE and he also assured participants that they will learn about the latest developments in data science. The keynote speaker of the day was Dr. Riyad Ghani Professor at Carnegie Mellon University discussed the importance of data science by taking various real-life examples.
