Teacher’s Training Programme concluded at GNE College

Information Technology Department of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana concluded the weeklong series of lectures and hands-on practice sessions held in the online AICTE Sponsored Short Term Training Programme (STTP) on title “Cyber Security – Current Trends and Future Perspective”. This online training programme was conducted in the High Performance Computing Lab of the Information Technology Department. This programme was organized with the objective to expose the faculty, research scholars and professionals to develop their competency and expertise over security and networking along-with providing the knowledge about the ongoing scenario in the area of cyber security. Renowned and experienced resource persons from renowned organizations like IITs, NITs, NITTTR and GFSU etc. had shared their experiences on various topics in this STTP. Practitioners from industries like UNet Solutions, CyberSec Society and CDAC etc. had demonstrated the real time industry problems as well as methods used as recovery process for various significant issues.

Mr. Sanjay Sharma from IIT Kanpur was invited as keynote speaker and he shared his expert opinions on real time challenges identified in the current pandemic situation. Dr. Animesh Mukherjee from IIT Kharagpur elaborated the significance of “Hate Speech Dynamics in Social Media” with concern to the current scenario along with various experts from IITs from different parts of the country.

The FDP have more eminent speakers such as Er. Vipin Gupta from UNet Solutions,Mr. Ch A.S. Murty from CDAC Hyderabad,Dr. Haresh Barot from GFSU Gandhinagar,Dr. Somitra Kr. Sanadhya from IIT Ropar,Dr. Ankit Jain from NIT Kurukshetra,Dr. Pankaj Bhambri, GNDEC,Udai Pratap Rao from SVNIT Surat,Dr. Rajat Subhra Chakraborty from IIT Kharagpur,Dr. Sita Saini ,Dr. Sailesh Iyer from Rai University Ahmadabad,Dr. Karan Verma from NIT Delhi , Dr. Maninder Singh from Thapar University, Patiala , Er. Amit Deoger from NITTTR Chandigarh

Er. Sandeep Singla and Dr. Pankaj Bhambri, course co-ordinators, mentioned that 260 participants out of 450 applications were shortlisted as per the guidelines of Project Monitoring Committee and AICTE. About 100 participants have regularly attended all the sessions and thus appeared for the evaluation test conducted at the end of the programme. 

Dr. Kiran Jyoti, Faculty Coordinator of this programme and HOD (IT) informed that this programme brought the outcomes as Familiarity regarding the Procedures to Secure Internet and Intranets, Securing E-Transactions, Confidential Data Security and Email Security as well as Firewalls  implementation to protecting systems along with backup and data recovery.

Dr. Sehijpal Singh, Principal of GNDEC conveyed that e-learning is the optimum solution during this epidemic current situation and appreciated the efforts of the organizers. He enlightened the significance of cyber security, cyber crimes and forensic sciences and proposed that these issues are desired to be taught and practised by the interdisciplinary professionals.
